Restoration Hardware 802-Gram Turkish Towels - 5 stars

10 years ago my wife and I went to Restoration Hardware and purchased a set of towels. We picked the 802-Gram Turkish Bath Towel. We picked up 2 sets each, and we got them in white. These towels have lasted us 8 years before they started to fall apart. So when that happened we went back and purchased another set.

To say these are high quality is an understatement. These are the best towels I have ever used. I have never visited a hotel, resort or home with towels that come close.

We have two sizes of towels, the 30 x 56 bath towel and the 20 x 30 hand towel. The bath sheet is gigantic and are to be avoided.

We purchased white for a few reasons.

  1. Longevity - don’t need to worry about dye’s fading
  2. Can always bleach to restore their white color and remove any stains
  3. They look great

There are a few tips to taking care of these towels. When they are brand new, we were told to add a cup of vinegar to the first wash. Don’t know what this does or why, but we’ve done this. Other than this, we’ve used different detergents over the years without any visible impact. Also, no fabric softener at all and no dryer sheets. For one thing, the fabric softener will reduce the absorbency of the towel, and second they are soft enough as is. The towels will break in over time. If you get colored towels (they have great colors) the dryer sheet will actually remove dye.

These towels are priced well given how great they are. The bath towel is $30 and the hand towel $15. Restoration Hardware often has sales, and so you can pick up a household of towels for a reasonable discount.

When it comes too bath mats, we picked up these microfiber memory foam mats and love them
